ASSEMBLY VOTES TO IMPEACH 3 CECMS

The County Assembly members voted to remove from office through impeachment 3 County Executive Committee members on various counts ranging from gross violation of the Constitution and other laws, abuse of office and incompetence.

29 out of 38 members voted in support of recommendations of the Select committee formed to investigate allegations that had been levelled against CECM for Finance,ICT and Economic Planning Hon. Andrew Sigei. Kimulot MCA Eric Kirui had tabled a motion seeking the removal of Hon. Sigei on grounds of gross violation of Constitution and other laws, abuse of office and incompetence.

The Select Committee led by Kapletundo Ward MCA Nathan Kibet in its report, found Hon. Sigei culpable on two grounds of Gross violation of the Constitution and other laws and incompetence.

Similarly, 29 out 38 members voted in support of the recommendations of the Select Committee report tasked with investigating allegations made against CECM in charge Administration, Public Service and Special Programmes Hon. Dr. Joseph Kipngetich Kirui. Nominated MCA Vincent Mutai had tabled motion seeking the removal from office for Dr. Kirui on grounds of Constitution and other laws, abuse of office and incompetence.

The Select Committee formed to investigate the allegations levelled against Dr.Kirui, in its recommendations found the CECM culpable on all the counts.Meanwhile, the Select Committee formed to investigate allegations against CECM in charge of Roads, Transport and Public Works Hon. Eric Kipkoech Ngetich found the CECM culpable on two counts of gross violation of the constitution and other laws and abuse of office.

The Motion mover, Hon. Josphat Kipkirui had sought the removal of the CECM on grounds of gross violation of the Constitution and other laws, abuse of office and gross misconduct.During the voting 29 out of 38 MCAs voted in favour of the committee recommendations.
