Today, a delegation from the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) paid a courtesy call to the County Assembly. The team led by Commissioner Wilson Pere was received by the County Assembly Clerk, Mr. Isaac Kitur.
The IGRTC, as the secretariat for the National and County Governments Coordinating Summit, plays a crucial role in facilitating effective intergovernmental relations, ensuring smooth transitions, dispute resolution, and fostering collaboration.
The visit aimed to collect data for the development of an administrative framework for the annual IGRTC summit report. This report, once submitted to the National Assembly, the Senate, and County Assemblies, will serve as a valuable tool for informed decision-making and policy development.
Speaking during the meeting, the County Assembly Clerk, Mr. Isaac Kitur, expressed the need for a standardized approach to capacity building across all the County Assemblies, noting that this will contribute to uniform and quality service delivery throughout the Counties.
Additionally, the Clerk underscored the importance of strengthening the County Assembly's legal framework. He proposed partnership between the two institutions, highlighting the IGRTC's potential to facilitate intragovernmental conflict resolution. He noted that by establishing alternative dispute mechanisms, it will ensure smooth running of County Assembly functions.
Also present during the meeting was the Assembly Deputy Clerk Dr. Gloria Kenyatta and other members of staff.
