The County Assembly has now formed an Ad hoc Committee to investigate the rising wage bill in the executive arm of the county government.
This is after the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wesley Kiprotich moved a motion seeking an investgation into the matter.
Defending his move during the Tuesday plenary sitting, Hon. Kiprotich argued that despite Governor Laboso's spirited move to cut the wage bill that had ballooned to unsustainable levels during the previous regime, her move was short lived and that the wage bill had shot to over 23 percent in the Supplementary estimates.
He argued that despite Governor Laboso's terminating all employees that had been engaged on contract terms by the previous regime, the wage bill continued to rise. He said that there was a need to investigate the issue as an urgent matter of county importance.
The committee is expected to report to the Assembly in 21 days.
