HOUSE APPROVES COUNTY ASSEMBLY SERVICE BOARD MEMBERS

TODAY, NOVEMBER 17,2022 - The Assembly during its afternoon sitting has approved the names of Jonathan Soi and Hon. Juliana Yegon to be members of the County Assembly Service Board (CASB).

The approval of the two follows a process of a shortlisting and successful interview conducted in the last two weeks. While moving the motion for approval, Chepchabas MCA Wesley Kiprotich said that the two individuals performed well among 31 candidates who had been shortlisted. The motion was seconded by Silibwet Township MCA Anne Chepkemoi.

Jonathan Soi is a retired career civil servant having served as Bomet County Secretary and as a Senior Deputy Secretary at various ministries in the National Government. He holds a master of science degree in Human Resources from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nairobi.

Juliana Yegon is the immediate former Member of the County Executive Committee (CECM) for Education, Vocational Training Youth, and Sports. She is a trained teacher and has served in different positions including as a principal at Siongiroi Girls Secondary School in Bomet. She holds a Bachelors of Education (Arts) degree from the University of Nairobi.

The two members, who will be sworn in after their approval, will join the other three members to constitute the whole Board. The CASB is a statutory entity established under Section 12 of the County Government Act,2012 with a specific mandate of providing services and facilities to Members of the County Assembly (MCAS) to ensure the efficient functioning of the County Assembly.

The membership of the Board consists of the Speaker of the County Assembly as the chairperson, two MCAs nominated by political parties represented in the Assembly, one man and one woman who are experienced in public affairs appointed by the County Assembly.
